Symposium to showcase healthcare redesign

How healthcare redesign is helping to enhance the delivery of primary and acute healthcare services locally for better patient outcomes will be discussed and showcased at a national conference this month.

Hobart will host the one-day symposium, Redesigning the Future of Health, on Saturday, 7 March with presenters and participants attending from across Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales.

The event is designed to explore ways in which the delivery of healthcare, locally and nationally, can be enhanced and ultimately provide better patient satisfaction, experience and outcomes.

“There is a real need, both locally and globally, to look at ways in which we can enhance the delivery of healthcare, which not only provides better outcomes for patients but also organisations,” Dr Pieter Van Dam, Director of Healthcare Redesign at the Tasmanian School of Medicine said.

Presenters will illustrate examples of workplace innovation, which have significantly improved outcomes and often implemented at little or no extra cost.

“One of the core roles of the clinical redesign program is to improve patient experience, in both acute and primary care,” Dr Van Dam said.

“This is designed to deliver a better patient journey, producing greater efficiency, as well as creating increased satisfaction for our health care professionals.”

The symposium is being held at MSP and presented by the College of Health and Medicine’s Tasmanian School of Medicine, Clinical Redesign team and the NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation, Centre for Healthcare Redesign.
