Careers

Families play a very important role supporting and advising children about career opportunities.

Family support and advice positively influences children’s choices about their own future. The type of support you provide your child about their future is as important as the support you provide them from primary to high school, and high school to years 11 and 12.

It is important to give it time – rather than focusing on making a decision straight away, listen and talk to your son or daughter about their interests and skills, and what they think they are good at and enjoy. Encourage them to make their own choices. Explore careers websites together, speak with people already working in the industry or career they are interested in, participate in volunteer work, encourage a range of activities for hem participate in out-side school.
