Vocational Education & Training

Vocational education and training (VET) enables young and mature students to gain qualifications for all types of employment, and specific skills to help them in the workplace.

VET courses are offered at TAFE institutes, private training providers, community organisations, trade training centres, some schools, colleges and universities such as the University of Tasmania.

VET qualifications range from Certificate 1 through to Advanced Diploma, and specific skill sets to help employees in the workplace. VET qualifications are a great way to develop practical workplace based skills and knowledge across a wide range of industries in Tasmania, such as Food, Agriculture, Health, Community Services, Aged-Care, Tourism and Advance Manufacturing. Higher level VET qualifications can also be used for entry into some university courses.
