Yes, you will retain your current HECS fee waiver or fee discount amount until completion of your program or early graduation (which-ever comes first), as long as you meet all HECS fee waiver or fee discount eligibility requirements detailed above.

Some courses may be deferred, however you are unable to under a HECS fee waiver or fee discount – so you will need to reapply for a HECS fee waiver or fee discount when you are ready to continue study and the HECS fee waiver or fee discount level awarded may not be the same level you had previously received.

If you have completed relevant postgraduate study within the last 10 years, you may be eligible for credit into your new course. In all instances this will need to be assessed by the course coordinator. When credit is applied, you will not need to enrol in that specific unit, and fees will not apply. Credit applied for a specific unit will be represented as either ‘credit’ or ‘exempt’ on your study plan. For more information on credit eligibility, please contact: u.connect@utas.edu.au

When you enrol in a unit, the system automatically generates an invoice. Due to your eligibility for a fee waiver/discount, this will be amended prior to Census Date for the relevant semester, at which time you will receive a new invoice. As long as you have provided all information you have been asked for this will be updated. The Fees team are generally very busy in the lead up to the start of semester, and endeavour to have all fee waivers/discounts processed by census date. Once processed, your invoice (viewable on your eStudent) will show ‘sponsorship’ next to the unit fees. If your invoice is still showing outstanding unit fees in the week leading up to census date, please contact us and we will investigate on your behalf.

Once you receive your offer, you will need to complete a Commonwealth Assistance Form. Even though you are eligible for a HECS fee waiver or fee discount, you are still required to complete an eCAF as this a government reporting requirement for students studying under a Commonwealth supported place.
