Introduction
This four-year full-time combined degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Information Systems is offered on the Hobart campus by the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology. Students have a maximum of ten years to complete the course.
These course rules and specifications apply to students commencing the course in 2009. For students who commenced prior to 2009, the applicable course rules are those from the year of commencement. i.e. students who commenced in 2006 should refer to the 2006 Handbook.

Course Objectives
In addition to the educational objectives of the Bachelor of Fine Arts and the Bachelor of Information Systems, this combined degree has the following objectives:
- To produce graduates who understand the nature of the multimedia industry and who have the managerial skills to progress their careers within that industry;
- To create an awareness of the roles that art and design can play within the IT industry, especially in multimedia;
- To provide fine arts graduates with the information management, project management and strategic insight to take leading positions within the emerging multimedia industry.
Miscellaneous Information
Bachelor of Fine Arts (Advanced Honours)
This program is available to high achieving students in the BFA component of the combined BFA-BIS.
This is a special program that recognizes high achieving students. Entry to the program requires an ITI score of 90 or greater and in order to maintain a place in the direct entry program students will be required to be awarded the Dean's Roll of Excellence each year. Students not initially admitted to the program but who achieve the Dean's Roll of Excellence at the end of Year 1, 2 or 3 will be invited to be part of the program. At the discretion of the Dean students transferring from other institutions may be eligible to enter the program.
Students participating in this program will be required to fulfill all the normal BFA component requirements and will be encouraged to develop their academic potential through participation in targeted research seminars. Individual academic mentoring and advice is also provided.
