The Associate Degree in Engineering (Specialisation) is designed as both a pathway to further learning and as a stand-alone qualification.

There are four specialisations:

Maritime:

The Associate Degree in Engineering (Maritime) is your pathway to an exciting career. Broaden your skills and increase your knowledge across a range of industry relevant topics that focus on practical and design-based engineering specialities. This degree will lead you to a career as an Engineer Associate or you could use it as a pathway to further your learning with a Bachelor Degree in Engineering. More information.

Note: the Maritime specialisation is being introduced from Semester 1, 2017 and will offered in Launceston and includes a combination of face-to-face and online/distance study.

Mechanical:

The Mechanical Specialisation focuses on the design, manufacture, construction, operation and maintenance of machines, manufacturing equipment, mechanical installations and mechanical facilities, under the direction of mechanical engineers and engineering technologists. More information.

Civil:

The Civil Specialisation focuses on the research, design, construction, operation and maintenance of projects such as roads, airports, railways, buildings, bridges, dams and drainage systems and provide technical support to civil engineers and civil engineering technologists. More information.

Electrical:

The Electrical Specialisation focuses on planning, design, selection, installation, starting up and maintenance of electrical equipment, facilities, power plant installations, parts and distribution systems and other duties which range between trades level (electricians) and electrical engineers. Career outcomes

This degree will lead you to a career as an Engineer Associate or you could use it as a pathway to further your learning with a Bachelor Degree in Engineering.

After completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Apply engineering theory to practice, and competently perform technical operations.
  • Permit informed, rational decision making in a specialist field of engineering and to implement these decisions.
  • Analyse and evaluate systems and produce required documentation through the inclusion of courses in English language, mathematics and project management.

Entry requirements for all Maritime Engineering courses are as follows:

Minimum Australian Tertiary Entrance Ranking (ATAR):  70

Potential students must have completed middle to upper level Maths and a Science subject (Physics or Chemistry recommended).

Fees & scholarships

Domestic students

Fees for Domestic students are based on individual unit selections. Please refer to the fees section of each unit description to work out an indicative annual cost.

Annual Tuition Fee is inclusive of the compulsory Student Services and Amenities (SSA) fee. The SSA for 2017 is $294 AUD.

International students

International students should refer to the International Students course fees page to get an indicative course cost.
