Human Resource Management in Health BAA724

Rozelle - Sydney

Note:

Introduction

This unit articulates the links that exist among strategy, organisational design and behaviour, and human resources management. Students will explore human resources functions within organisations and also develop a critical understanding of models of major organisational components that shape the human resources options available for health services managers. Students will cover strategy and organisational systems, and the legal and economic environment, processes for the formation of strategy within health services organisations, the relationship that should exist between strategy and human resources management, and methods for strategic management of human resources at various stages of the organisational life cycle. This unit also explores the influence of these choices upon structural and behavioural systems, and provides information on the performance of selected human resources functions, such as recruitment, selection, training and development, compensation management, and negotiating and administering the labour relations.
