Visual and Performing Art: Contemporary Practice FFE111
This unit is only available through the UTAS College Program. For further information, here.
Introduction
UTAS recognises the high quality/standard curriculum of pre tertiary visual arts and performing arts subjects. This University College extension unit is designed to be undertaken concurrently with these existing studies, giving dedicated college students the opportunity to experience study at first year university level. This 25% unit will extend students understanding of a range of concepts that underpin the arts and will investigate how to apply them to their own creative practice.
Through a variety of contexts including lectures, group discussions, workshops, journal entries, written exercises and creative interpretation, students will explore and demonstrate the capacity to analyse and describe art works and performances to help discern their positioning within a chosen creative field. To gain a professional perspective on the development of potential career pathways, students will be encouraged to meaningfully reflect on their own practice as well as the practice of others by considering the role of spectator/audience, artist/actor art/performance.
