Pharmaceutical Science A CSA257

Note:

Similar to CSA255 but without pharmacy practice stream.

Introduction

Pharmaceutical Science involves the study of physical and chemical principles which are important in the design of dosage forms and other pharmaceutical systems and the application of these principles to practice, particularly in the development of an understanding of the relationship between pharmaceutical formulation and therapeutic activity. This background physicochemical knowledge is the fundamental basis of how drugs are effectively delivered to the body to exert an effect and are particularly relevant to aspects of clinical pharmacy practice. This pharmaceutical science unit focuses on the technologies and methods employed in the design of dosage forms for different routes of delivery.
