Hobart, Rozelle - Sydney
This unit builds on the basic knowledge from CXA107 Fundamentals of Bioscience to develop an understanding of the physiology and pathophysiology of the nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, immune and endocrine systems.
Basic principles of pharmacology are introduced and, throughout the semester, the actions of commonly used medicines are explored in the context of patient scenarios. Microbiology, including infections, immunisation and the use of antimicrobials are discussed in relation to health care environments and healthcare practice.
This unit is offered in parallel to second year Bachelor of Paramedic Practice units and provides a bioscience foundation for these units.
