Persons making and expecting to make an active and ongoing contribution to the work of the University may be appointed to Adjunct, Clinical or Associate Titles.
High level policy principles relevant to Adjunct, Clinical and Associate titles are contained in the Academic Promotions, Honorary and Adjunct Titles Policy. The Adjunct, Clinical and Associate Titles processes are under review. In the meantime please follow the processes described in the Adjunct, Clinical and Associate Titles (interim) Procedure (PDF 235.8 KB) and on the nomination and renewal forms.
The following levels of Adjunct and Clinical appointments are made by Colleges/Divisions:
- Senior Lecturer
- Senior Researcher
- University Associate
Nominations for these levels of Adjunct, Clinical or Associate appointments are approved by the Head of School/Head of Divisional Section after a College/Division process and signed by the Executive Dean (or delegate)/Head of Division prior to submission to People and Recruitment Shared Services via the Service Portal.
Nominations for new
- Associate Professor
will be considered by the Adjunct, Clinical and Associate Titles Committee by circulation. Nominations for Professor and Associate Professor appointments will be sent to the Committee in the last week of February, May, August and the first week of November each year. The deadline for receiving completed nominations at Honorary.Titles.Admin@utas.edu.au is a week before those dates.
Nominations for New Appointments (all levels)
Nominations for new Adjunct, Clinical and Associate Titles must include:
- Completed Adjunct, Clinical and Associate Titles Nomination Form
- Rationale for the conferral provided by the Head of School/Head of Divisional Section, which
- outlines the nominee’s expected contribution to the work of the University
- states the benefits expected to flow to the University
- Brief, current curriculum vitae of the nominee (5 pages or a web hyperlink)
- Adjunct or Clinical Professor/Associate Professor nominations must also include approval by the Executive Dean/Head of Division.
All levels of Adjunct, Clinical and Associate appointments will have a common anniversary date of 31 January or 31 July.
Renewals of Appointments
Renewals of all levels of Adjunct, Clinical and Associate appointments may be made up to six months prior to the current expiry date.
Renewal requests received more than six weeks after the current expiry date will need to be new nominations. In addition, if a University Associate is to be renewed as another level of Adjunct, for example from a current University Associate appointment to an Adjunct Researcher or Adjunct Lecturer, a new nomination will be required.
Renewals are made via an online form in the Service Portal. The form is under Forms, in the People and Honorary Appointments sections. Renewal forms will be work flowed for approval to the relevant Head of School/Head of Divisional Section. You are strongly encouraged to attach information such as a short statement of the outcomes of the previous appointment and an updated CV as additional information for the Head.
All renewals will have an expiry date of 31 January or 31 July and the maximum term is three years.
Paper forms for renewing all levels of Adjunct, Clinical and Associate appointments are no longer used.
