Our Graduate Certificate provides a transformative learning experience that expands your perspective and critical understanding of leaders and their pivotal role in fostering organisational capability. This course equips you with the essential skills to navigate complexity in today's business environment. You'll gain profound insights and the confidence to challenge conventional methodologies, embracing innovative and agile approaches that achieve organisational success and stakeholder value. During the program, you'll dive deep into topics such as communication and performance, power and influence, organisational behaviour, and informal leadership to gain an overarching understanding of leadership's complexities.

Through live case studies, guest lectures, simulations, and peer-to-peer learning, you'll examine and evaluate diverse approaches to leadership, including Indigenous, ethical, and character-based perspectives. With our flipped classroom methods, you'll have the flexibility to access learning materials at the time that suits you, preparing you to delve deeper into key topics during interactive online tutorials and immersive face-to-face workshops. You'll be encouraged to bring your experiences into the discussion and contribute to co-creating knowledge about different leadership aspects.

  • 1 Evaluate, critique and re-conceptualise theory and practice of leadership as it applies to organisational capability development for application in contemporary organisations.
  • 2 Critically reflect upon concepts and theory of leadership practice with particular focus on non-traditional approaches to inform the development of leadership capability in diverse and complex contexts.
  • Throughout this course, you'll be deeply engaged and frequently exposed to industry-relevant, practical business and organisational issues. Live case analysis, industry visits, peer-to-peer learning, and masterclasses will all provide opportunities to link theory to practice, ensuring your learning is theoretically rigorous and practically applicable.

    Course structure

    To graduate from the Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Organisational Capability, you must satisfactorily complete 50 credit points of study from the core units listed below in the schedule.

    To be eligible for an offer, you must have:

    • A completed AQF7 Bachelor Degree or above, or approved equivalent, in any discipline.

    An equivalent qualification from an overseas institution is as assessed by the University with reference to the equivalencies identified by the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR).

    Applicants with work experience
    To be eligible for an offer, you must have:

    • At least three (3) years’ management experience.

    To be eligible for the degree, you need to provide evidence that shows your work experience meets the minimum requirements. This includes submitting a copy of your CV and two letters of reference from your line managers or equivalent positions. The minimum level of management experience required is supervisory, team leader, or business manager experience. If you have worked as a sole trader or consultant, you must provide a copy of your CV and two testimonials or references from clients that provide evidence of capability consistent with the entry requirements.

    Applicants with higher education study
    To be eligible for an offer, you must have:

    • A completed AQF7 Bachelor Degree or above, or approved equivalent, in any discipline.

    English Language Requirements
    International students must also provide evidence that they have met the minimum English Language Test Score requirements for Postgraduate coursework programs as published in the University’s English Language Requirements. These tests must have been completed in the 24 months preceding the application date.

    Students who successfully complete the Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Organisational Capability may be eligible for credit of up to 50 cp into the 37O1 Master of Business Administration or 37O2 Master of Business Administration (Executive), subject to the approval of the MBA Director and meeting the admission requirements for the relevant course, particularly the requirements of work experience.

    Options for this course

    Cost shouldn’t get in the way of you studying.

    If you’re a domestic student, you may be eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place in this course. This means your fees will be subsidised by the Australian Government. You’ll only need to pay the student contribution amount for each unit you study within the course.

    You may also be able to defer payment of the student contribution amount by accessing a HECS-HELP loan from the Government. If eligible, you’ll only have to pay your tuition fees once you start earning above a specific amount.
