Teaching and learning is enhanced when educators know the 'why' as well as the 'what' of their practice. Understanding the theories that inform evidence-based learning and teaching strategies will enable educators to be innovative, adaptable, and effective. This unit focuses on the theoretical framework that underpins a range of evidence-based practices, such as Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), and video modelling. Our focus in this unit is not on the promotion of a program; rather, it is on exploring the principles of applied behaviour analysis which aid in understanding student behaviour, inform learning and teaching strategies, and provide tools for the evaluation of student learning.
