Professional Experience Placement (PEP): Students will be allocated PEP within individual health care agencies. Students must be available 5 days a week (mornings, evenings, weekends night shifts as per roster), may be required to relocate and are expected to travel to where the PEP is available. To be eligible to undertake PEP, all SNM students must meet the requirements of the Health Science Safety in Practice Kit by completing and submitting all Safety in Practice Agreement compliance documentation to the School. Students who cannot or do not comply with these requirements will not be allocated PEP and therefore will not be able to complete this unit.

Professional Nursing Practice is a synthesis unit which builds on the knowledge and skills already developed in the Bachelor of Nursing (BN) degree. This unit provides the opportunity for you to participate in the nursing management of individuals and families who experience illness or accident, and require interventions in the acute care setting.
You will be working in a variety of acute care settings and contexts applying theoretical understandings of the pathophysiology of disease, pharmacology and nursing therapeutics as they relate to patient's illness. Using your understanding of the clinical reasoning cycle you will gather assessment data, process information, establish goals and evaluate and critically reflect on patient outcomes to demonstrate your progression towards competence as a beginning level registered nurse.
