The Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Redesign equips you to lead the positive change you want to see in healthcare service delivery.
Healthcare Redesign is an organisation performance improvement method that has brought about significant change in health service delivery, worldwide. The method draws on a variety of tools that were initially developed within private industry (including the manufacturing industry) and adapts and extends these for use within health care settings.
The focus of Healthcare Redesign is to improve existing services and processes; the central goal of the method is to improve patient care.
Delivered over 1-3 years, this fully flexible online program is designed to fit around the busy lives of health professionals working in the healthcare industry. This work integrated learning course is for anyone who is passionate about helping people and improving the way our health services are delivered to patients – whether you are a healthcare professional, a manager or a health executive.

- 1 Apply relevant theories, methodologies, and frameworks to the redesign of healthcare services, and interpret the influence of contextual factors operating at different levels within your healthcare sector, relevant to health service redesign.
- 2 Develop and apply critical-thinking skills, drawing on knowledge of relevant theories, frameworks, and contexts, to improve practices within a person-centred healthcare context.
- 3 Select and apply relevant frameworks, methodologies, and sources of evidence to analyse and implement contextually fit-for-purpose healthcare improvements
- 4 Apply personal insight, communication skills and leadership skills as a vehicle for transfer of knowledge to a variety of audiences towards the continual improvement of healthcare services, at a local level.

Entry requirements
- Completed undergraduate degree (at AQF 7 level) from an Australian higher education provider in a health or human welfare studies and services field, or equivalent overseas qualification, or
- Alternatively, completed undergraduate degree (at AQF 7 level) from an Australian higher education provider in any discipline, AND
- At least five years relevant professional and/or industry experience in a health or human welfare studies and services field.
Admission to most postgraduate coursework courses at the University of Tasmania require qualifications equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree. Applicants must achieve the required grade in their qualifying studies, meet any prerequisite subjects, and meet English language requirements to be eligible for an offer.

Students who complete the Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Redesign can articulate with full credit (50 points) into the Graduate Diploma and Master of Healthcare Redesign. The Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Redesign is an exit award for the Graduate Diploma of Healthcare Redesign and Master of Healthcare Redesign.

Domestic students
Commonwealth supported places (CSP) are available for this course. For eligible domestic students, this means your fees will be subsidised by the Australian Government. You’ll only need to pay the student contribution amount for each unit you study within the course.

HECS-HELP loans
