Snack Attack Posters and Games

Learning Level: Gr 2

Theme Area:

Description: 'Snack Attack Posters' and 'Snack Attack Board Games'. Students designed and produced posters as a reminder of the importance of their Snack Attack time at school. The posters enabled them to explore the most appropriate snacks they could choose to eat during this dedicated break, and how the break and the food they choose can impact their concentration. Most also considered which fruit and vegetables they could consume in their snack break. Those who also designed a board game considered a variety of choices available and attributed forward or backwards steps on the board to the healthfulness of the choice.

Measures of Success: Students understand that snack attack time is important to their concentration and learning and the foods they consume in snack attack can have a positive or negative effect on their concentration and also their long term health. Posters can be seen on display in the classroom and children's snack choices include more fruit and vegetables than packaged goods.
