New compilation of orchestral excerpts now available for bassoonists.
This new downloadable compilation of Bassoon Orchestral Excerpts has been put together by our publishing team in the AMEB Federal office.
Candidates undertaking a bassoon exam (Grade 7+) have no doubt found that the orchestral excerpts in the Lists can be a little tricky to come by. We're aware that the Il fagotto in orchestra (AWS) is out of print and have been working to find a solution that will support learners in their studies. This new publication aims to achieve exactly that. We've collated some of the key excerpts that are out of print, plus a few others that are core to the repertoire.
In producing the AMEB Bassoon Orchestral Excerpts digital downloads, we've also made a few tweaks that will better support Candidates with:
- meeting timing requirements for AMEB exams; and
- learning excerpts that are more aligned with standard orchestral audition expectations and conventions.
If you have already managed to get your hands on a copy of Il fagotto in orchestra and are preparing for your exam, that's absolutely fine - you can continue with presenting those works, as per the syllabus requirements for your grade.
