Celebrate then continue learning

So you've completed your exam and you've just received your certificate? Congratulations!

Gaining an AMEB qualification is a substantial achievement and we hope it has helped you in your learning journey.

But now what?

Well, there's always more to learn in life. We'd like to help you with some easy next steps so you can continue to grow as a performing artist.

Start by celebrating!

You've put a lot of work into getting to this point so let's take a moment to celebrate your achievement. Give yourself a pat on the back for all the hard work you've put in to achieve your AMEB qualification.

How about framing that certificate and putting it in pride of place at home? Your local framing shop is sure to have some beautiful options but there are some cheaper, DIY options at Target, KMart and Officeworks. You could feature this, and other achievements, by hanging your certificate on a wall, or dedicating a shelf to your framed certificates.

Set your next goal

Keep that motivation going and set yourself a goal for your next exam.

Unless you've just completed your LMusA, there's another exam just waiting for you to begin working on. And the best part is that you already have all the foundational knowledge to help you - each AMEB exam is part of a larger structure that gradually builds up all the key skills you need to become really amazing at your chosen craft.

Make a plan with your teacher to help you achieve your next exam goal. You can use the feedback in your recent report to identify areas to continue working on to keep building your skills. Your teacher can help guide you with choosing new pieces or learning new steps.

While you're at it, you could set yourself some little milestones along the way. These could be  anything from "I will have learnt this new scale by that date" up to "I will organise a practice exam performance in front of my family to ensure I'm fully prepared two weeks ahead of my exam date".

Get equipped

Set yourself up for success.

Get hold of the next book of music, script, or dance music. Make sure you know what resources you need for your chosen exam. As soon as you have them, you can get cracking on the next exciting thing!

To help you with those milestones and practice goals, you could get yourself a practice diary.

Our AMEB online shop has all of these and more. And your favourite local retailer is sure to have  some great resources, too.

Haven't received your certificate yet?

Firstly, please give us time. We print all certificates in bulk to save on postage and resources. Print runs are generally monthly but we'll hold off until the end of the larger practical exam sessions to send out everything in one hit.

If it's a few weeks after the exam session finished, and you still haven't received your certificate, this could be for a few reasons.

Firstly, does your practical exam have a corequisite requirement, such as passing a theory exam? If you did a classical Grade 6+ exam, this might apply to you. It's worth checking

If you did a Rockschool exam, your digital certificate is possibly ready to download from SCORE. Head to My enrolments, and click the Options menu to view, download, and print your own version. You can also request an AMEB certificate to be printed and posted to you.

Perhaps you've completed your theory corequisite but haven't let us know? Please get in touch with the office and we'll get that printed and posted in our next certificate batch.

We do all we can to protect your precious certificate but, once it leaves our office, we no longer have control over it getting to you. Sometimes there are delays, and even errors on the side of Australia Post. If you've already waited a reasonable amount of time, please get in touch and we'll see what we can do for you.
