The Health Science (Nutrition) Professional Experience Placement (PEP) program allows students the opportunity to put into practice newly acquired skills, behaviours and knowledge. The aim of PEP is to immerse students in the professional culture of nutrition and to gain a better understanding of the diverse roles of nutrition professionals within the health care system in Australia.
During the course students will have the opportunity to participate in a food hygiene and handling activity within a community kitchen. This activity is a component of the Community and Public Health Nutrition unit, the activity will include preparing, serving and sharing a meal with community members.
During the third year of the course students will undertake a one week placement (40 hours) in either semester one or semester two, where they will have the opportunity to practice the skills they have acquired. Placements will be allocated state-wide.
