About the program
Meteorites are space rocks that fall to Earth’s surface, they are made up of the same elements that all Earth materials are made of, but they may contain minerals that are not found on Earth. Millions of meteoroids travel through the Earth’s atmosphere each day, so it is not a bad idea to learn a bit about them!
This activity involves a dynamic presentation introducing how the universe and solar system formed, what meteorites are, how to identify them, and their importance for Earth and planetary sciences. The presentation will include some practical parts but mainly encourages students to talk and discuss.
